MGB Fuel filler for a 77 B.

I'm trying to get a simple answer as to whether or not I can replace the filler tube on my 77 which is a rubber hose connected to the filler cap. I want to replace the cap with the Le Mans type and cannot get a straight answer. Looks simple enough...find a filler tube that will accept the neck of a Le Mans type cap.

You will need to create a flange on the outside of the car to accept the cap flange. You can pull off the rubber hose in the boot and plumb into the tank.
Don’t know of any that sells them.

I have an Aston (Lemans) gas cap on the Midget. I wanted to confirm that the Gas cap/ hose on a Midget is the same as an MGB. It is. In my checking at the Moss Motors website I discovered they have a direct replacement locking Aston cap.

Not cheap but WAY easier than the swap you are asking about.

I am cheap and bought mine off ebay. (can't remember the details as it was years ago but it is cheap - trust me )

Looks like this:

I had to grind off the flange (that the cap would have screwed on to) and the cap is held on with a grub screw (I think)

I have an Aston (Lemans) gas cap on the Midget. I wanted to confirm that the Gas cap/ hose on a Midget is the same as an MGB. It is. In my checking at the Moss Motors website I discovered they have a direct replacement locking Aston cap.

Yes, I might have used the Moss cap had it been available 10 years ago - but, I haven't missed the locking part because of my garage.

This looks great. I do like the looks of the cap and it also makes filling a lot easier and neater...

as I look again, I would want to check how you actually fill it. It kind of looks like you flip the cap to expose the key and then unlock it and unscrew the whole thing - which still looks very cool on the car but at some level defeats the purpose.

That is a baby cap. I thought he wanted a proper Le Mans cap like on the factory M.G.s

This actually looks like the easiest and simplest way to go. The neck fit into the existing hole in the bodywork and using the existing or new grommet? Thanks all. Now to find one! Can you recall the brand?

To recap - the screw on one is Moss Motors as per the link and mine was just from ebay UK. You can search them there or on Amazon
