The silver colour plug says "void if removed and what looks like CU(H?)ARANILE" Is this typical of a high port cylinder head from this era? Sure does not look like the disc shaped core plug in the Moss catalog? Would this plug be destroyed in a machine shop cleaning? And what is the bolt for at the bottom of the picture?

I saw your post on another forum and replied to it. This is indeed a little tell tale that salvage yards stick onto engine parts. If you overheat that head it will fall off voiding the warranty from the supplier. Its just glued on the surface. Just pry it off if you want.

Many machine shops install these, again to verify overheating for any warranty.I sincerely doubt the
salvage yard idea. During this century, 99.99% of all salvage yards stock nothing older than 10-12 years.
But they do put on these tabs when they sell a motor.

Moss shows a core plug 319-000 for the cylinder head. Why does mine have a bolt instead of that plug (see bottom of picture) Did a PO install that instead? Is this a freeze plug or have some other purpose? Karl

Karl this is the end of the head on my fast engine.
The core plug and oil gallery can be seen.
The sticker has been covered by others and a new build tell tail.
Are the rocker pedestals aluminum? Do the bolts that hold them down use just a flat washer or do they have a flat washer and a lock washer?

Yes the pedestals are new bastuck Ali type held down with these type of shouldered nuts only.
Do you happen to know of an upgraded composite TR3 cylinder head gasket for an 83mm head or are all the composite gaskets basically the same and they all come from the same supplier. I see there is a Payen type that is made in Germany but I dont know if it is the same one as the others that are sold by Moss 300AE I think? Is the 83 mm gasket also for 86mm heads?
