TR2/3/3A Happened again

Well I just finished rebuilding the motor and got my TR3 running perfectly. Almost at 500 miles to retorque the head. On the way down to drop off a letter at the post office and take my dog for a walk by the river. Stopped behind a truck wanting to turn left, when she backed up and ran her trailer hitch thru the front apron and grill. She does have insurance, but finding a good LBC body shop will be hard. It’s an easy $6000-$10000 worth of damage. More damage than can be seen in the photos.

Though retired now, I still fix Tr3's just for the love of the breed. Still you are quite aways from Kansas.
You might think of sending the apron here for repairs/paint.

Mad Dog , I am looking for a good panel beater close by, but if I have no luck I will pay the extra and send it off to you.

Ouch, indeed I can hear you shouting from over here stop stop. They say you should make sure you can see the side mirror of the vehicle in front so if they look they can see you. Because our cars are so small maybe we should have a red flag on a pole like the child shopping carts? or maybe not.

The flag is a good idea! I was a little off to the right to stay away from the big semi dirt trucks coming up the road.
( there is so much building going on here in Idaho) . Traffic has changed here so much. For now on I am going the longer way and use the traffic light.

Bummer dude. If she has insurance I would consider getting a new apron from Moss. The cost of fixing a beauty classic is high and not the usually shop expense so there will specialty money available. The insurance company has to pay for a new piece if the shop writes the estimate in your favor.

I met a guy in Boise that had about 5 really nice tr3s he had been collecting. The guy’s name was Steve something and he did car upholstery out on Fairview drive that went down to the river.

There are two in Redding ,CA. One is Kevin Kay Restorations. Very top end shop. Aston Martin to MG and Triumph.
Also Hveem Restorations also very top end ( I believe Martin Hveem is still in business). Both of these shops are as good as you can get.
Our local British car club is very familiar with both of these shops.
Contact me if you want more information.

+1 Bummer.

I would be surprised if it hits $3

I installed a big Mercedes Bosch Autobahn horn in my car to let everyone know my little TR3 is here. But sometimes there is no time to hit the horn.

Where crash repairs get silly, is the technical issues in getting the paint correct. The many different paints used
in the last 30years, and their unique and varied chemistry. causes painters to drink a LOT! If I had all the money
that paint "reactions" have cost me, personally , I would be rich.
This is why ,today, bodyshops only work on late model cars. Try to find a good craftsman in this day & age that likes to lose
time and money trying to fix a problem with a paint from the 80's that hates modern base/clears. They (like in the Simpsons
episode on repairmen) no longer exist. This is only compounded by he astronomical costs of paint today. Paint problems can easily cost
500 or 1000$ in production delays in a shop. So I would say on this example 3000-3500 is the range. This is CHUMP money
in todays collision industry where a single head lamp can cost 4000$ not including re-programing the computer to recognise
the varmint!!

Kindigit Designs in Salt Lake City would do a perfect job.
The wait might be too long though.

This is so sad and even more heartbreaking that she just got back on the road with less than 500 miles. I feel your pain. Finding a local shop which is good is hard enough, let alone one that doesn't have a huge wait.

I guess this why I like driving in the wee hours of the morning when all the loonies and their massive SUV's are still asleep.
