TR6 Filter housing assembly?

I just bought a 69 TR6 with what I believe to be a 72 motor. I decided to change the oil. The previous owner provided me with a filter adapter from Moss Motors, but it apears to be defective (it mounts at an angle and will not seal to the block) so I decided to put reinstall the stock filter housing with a new filter so I can get car back on the road. My question is the filter I purchased is smaller, but do thing it think it will fit. Will it work? The picture I attached shows everything that was in the original assembly, am I missing something?
 
Most TR6 owners install a good spin on .The cartridge is too much trouble to get on and off
.Make sure you Loctite and torque properly.This will accept several filter lengths if angled .

As I stated I tried getting spin on filter adapter to work, but believe it's defective. I'm just trying to get the car back together and running and to make sure I have what I need. As you can see from the breakdown photo I don't have everything, with what was there, it did seem to however the car ran fine with good oil pressure? I ordered a new filter. I am need to move this car and it's delaying my other projects :(
 
Look like you are missing 107 unless it's covered with that oil.
It's the so called 'centralizer' that helps keep the spring and the valve located so the element stays where it needs to be

Is that "centralizer" threaded? I wonder if I used a nylon locknut and a washer in place of it.
 
It may have been but I don't remember it being threaded or not....it's thin and really I don't believe it's vital if you use some care putting it all together.
Have you been warned about the O-ring...an old one that feels hard enough to be mistaken for steel and adding a new one on top of the old one ?....that's bad as is pinching a new one when you tighten down the housing.
Been there done that both....you'll loose oil.

I just remembered there were 2 what I call 'tiger tooth' barbs gouges in 103 that kept the centralizer from slipping off the bolt 103. I had to flatten those teeth to slip 107 off so that 103 could be completely removed so I could replace the leaking 104 seal.
Once done and back in place I pried the teeth back up.
