BJ7 Chrome Trim

Hi guys, I've finally got my BJ7 door gaps looking good, door liners on, and door seal fitted (well nearly).

Just wondering how the small chrome piece fits on at the top of the rear wing where it meets the top of the door ? i see the trim has a flat side at the top that looks like it slides under the rear shroud chrome piece, does it then just butt up to the chrome bead between the wing and shroud. What does the screw go into on the end ?

The last pic shows there’s no backing plate for the end trim . There’s supposed to be a small filler piece of sheet metal in there to give you something to screw the trim to . Your chrome trim should sit flat against the side of the car and the stainless beading finishes against the back edge not underneath the chrome .
your middle pic shows the chrome trim has to come forward so it’s flush with the shut face .

Thanks, that's very helpfull, would you have a picture at all showing the end cap, or should i just fabricate a piece of metal to fit in the end of the trim and screw to that, how is it held in place ?

It’s a long time since I had BJ8s in restoration and when I sold mine all the picture archives etc went with them to the new owners . From what I remember there’s a funky shaped piece of sheet metal that is welded to the top of the shut face sheet metal . It’s a separate part as it’s a complex shape . Not sure if they are sold by any of the major suppliers …….Kilmartin maybe ?

Great thankyou, now have the part and will weld in place, would have never have realized there was another part to be fitted.

As an update to this I have successfully fitted the driver's side chrome trim and all looks good.
Moving onto the passenger side the trim is sitting 6-8mm higher than it should be !!
Can i lift the stainless hood edging up and also the front of the rear shroud, i just wondered if it would come up that high or would it kink on the narrow edge of the rear shroud ?

It looks like the shroud has to come up higher at the front and you beading needs moving back so it finishes at the chrome not under it .

I did wonder that, probably needs to come up 5-8mm but i dont know if i will have the capabilities to do that or if it may kink the shroud on the narrow edge ??

The shroud is quite flexible but it is sandwiched between the superstructure and the fender so you would need to loosen the fender off near the shut face and back towards the high point of the fender and remove any rivets that maybe holding the shroud to the superstructure at the front end .
