Portland Roadster Show

I just wanted to acknowledge that Richard Mayor, a frequent poster here, owns the only Healey entered in the Portland Roadster Show this past weekend. I saw it there Saturday.

The Roadster Show is a bit different from the typical automotive interests of the people who typically visit this forum, but it was still good entertainment for a few hours. The only other British car I remember was a Sunbeam Tiger, and if you consider an AC Cobra to be British, then yes, there was one of those too, an all-original, unrestored 289 Cobra that is well known in this region.

Richard, how does one get a car into the show? What are the costs? I understand there are trophies and prize money involved; can you outline the classes and prize money? Did you win anything?

Dougie, your vintage racing 100-6MM would not be out of place in the show. In fact, I'll bet it would be welcomed and appreciated. You might consider it for next year.

It was amazing! It was the 67th Anniversary of the Portland Roadster Show. A 3 day deal with over 400 cars entered. Show cars, Kustomized cars, rat rods and even some race cars. There were many more entries submitted than they had space for.
The entry fee for a 10' x 20' space is $70. I'm not sure what the criteria for getting accepted is. I was just really happy because I have been to the Portland Roadster Show many times over the years and seen the amazingly expensive creations on display as well as many other lesser value treasures.
Since my Healey has many modifications and looks quite different in it's bare metal livery, I thought I'd give it a shot. Lo and behold they let me in. For judging I was put in the pre 1963 Sports Car class. .... Corvette country.
Therefore, I was pleasantly surprised to have won First Place in my class!

Outstanding - congratulations Richard!

I was slightly surprised at how much I enjoyed the show and will put it on my must-do list from now on. Besides, there's not a lot going on in the car world around here in March, but now there is the Portland Roadster Show to look forward to!

Here's the upgrades and modification I did to my car.
