A friend is asking for a value for this TR3 he wants to sell. This one is a little different since it has a Pinto motor and transmission.

He has the front sheet metal, fender, hood, trunk, door to spare tire compartment, windshield, and other parts for it. The only serious rust that I know of is the area behind the doors and in-front of the rear fenders which is rather a normal place to rust out and easy to fix (they have the metal for that area). I’m sure you know all of that. I looked on line and the Pinto 2.0 engine has two horsepowers depending on the year. I do not know the year of the engine but I would imagine it would be easy to find out with the number on it. 1971 had 100 hp and 1972-1974 had 86. The front brakes are frozen so it does not move freely. I need to figure out how to unfreeze them so I can get it onto my trailer to transport it. From what you see how much do you think is a reasonable price for it?? I appreciate anything you can do to help me sell this and get one in better shape.

Total guess...I'd say $2k on the high side. I don't think there is a market for pinto Triumphs, so the money is in the Body and frame.

1961 according to the owner. I just saw an engine for sale on ebay for $750.

Obviously needs lots of work and correspondingly money thrown at it. Then you have a Pinto powered TR. Looks like not too much other modifications done so a new owner might be able to source a used motor/transmission and go that route. But as John said $2000 would be reasonable because of all the unknowns and other money that will have to be put into it. At that price though it may be worth more in parts. Bruce

My one is a 1960 according to the Heritage trace and it has the straight shelf behind the seats. This one has the earlier style so that may mean it is earlier than 1961. Does it have a commission tag?
The floor looks odd in that area. A home brew floor replacement.
2K seems OK if the frame is in good shape.

Assuming the chassis is in good condition, and although the car requires a complete restoration, I would think that $2k is too low.
