TR2/3/3A Removing choke cable from dash insert

Searched and didn't find my answer - I liked the old searches where you could specify TR3!
I need to move/remove my dash insert a couple inches into the cockpit to fix some wires.
The choke knob came off fine.
I need the "knob holder" off so that I can get the chrome plinth off the threaded end of the cable and let the cable go back toward the firewall.
I hope that makes sense.
I can't get the "knob holder" off the end of the cable. I'm pointing to the part in question with a punch in the pic below.
Help!

Chris, I can't see all of your choke cable, but in my original and this TRF replacement, the front chrome piece is part of the main assembly and does not screw off. Here are some pictures so you can compare to yours.

In other words, it will not go through the dash from front to back. To pull the dash forward you must disconnect the cable from the carbs...both the cable and the sheath. You can then pull it through the firewall as needed.

Wow, Jeff & John, thanks for that info, glad I didn't break anything trying to get it apart!
