Which Datsun 5 speed transmission can be converted to be used in a T series MG? Like - (FS5W60L 3.513 2.170 1.378 1.000 0.846) or other numbers/models. PJ

I'm pretty sure it's the same one that the Spridgets use. Never seen any online info on the Datsun swap for the T-series cars (though there is info on the Ford T-9 conversions).

The transmission out of a Datsun 210 (-60 that Paul reffed above) is too small to go around the flywheel of an MGA/MGB and I am GUESSING also the XPAG engine.
The one to use would be the one out of the Datsun 510, 200, 240, pickup, etc.
Biggest issue here will be the distance from the flywheel to the shifter and there were LOTS of versions here.

OK- the XPAG flywheel is small-
didn't know that (never seen one up close)

Just got word my T9 conversion is coming tomorrow Drew. Been a long waiting period. The problem was it was held up by customs over a container of special (GL-4) transmission oil. Finally got that straightened out after filling out half a dozen forms and faxing them to the customs agent in Memphis. What a pain! Paul

Excellent news, Paul!

Everything came today except the transmission! It was sent to Indiana for some reason and supposedly on the road to Tulsa. I guess someone in Fedex pushed the wrong button, that doesn't surprise me! Said it would be here by 4:30, not going to happen! o_O :rolleyes2:
Just out of the box and foam pieces all over, but here's some of it.

I will be curious to see how the mount for the transmission tail-shaft fits up.

Doc, Here's a shot of Declan's tranny plus a sketch of the modified rear mount. Not being a Datsun tranny, Most info now is on the "My new 5-speed" thread.
