Classic Mini Engine Identification

I have what is registered as a 1975 Austin Mini. The original VIN and engine identification plate are gone. I was told when i purchased it, it had a 998 in it. But after looking at it and doing some research, it seems to have a 1275. I believe that it is a 1275A and not an A+. The casting stamp on the head is 12G940 and the distributor is a 41257(25D). From what i can tell this engine is out of a Mini 1275GT, but I am not 100% sure. Is there anything else that I can look at to further identify my engine.
 
A) Welcome to the forum.

B) Displacement size should be on the left side of the block, part of the casting. But I suspect you've already seen that.
 
The 12G940 head is a very common 'normal' 1275 head but it can be fitted to smaller engines to increase power (if other modifications are also made).
How many cylinder head studs are there?
Does the block have valve chest covers? arrowed red in image
