TR2/3/3A The chrome ring around the bakelite horn button?

When trying to track down a no sound from the horn issue I removed the thin chrome ring around the horn button. (I tracked down the no sound issue.... it was a wire connected wrong at the loom.) My problem now is when I reinstall the ring at the button it either holds the button down or the ring pops off when I press the button. Any tricks to get the ring where it is supposed to be?
 
The ring has to be installed before the horn is assembled. There are tabs on the ring to
secure it to the horn face. Possibly the tabs on your ring are broken off, requiring a
replacement ring. ( I have many) See attached photos

Thanks Frank. I mistakenly pried the ring off because the button was jamming on and I thought the ring was binding. Good to know the correct way to install now. Not looking forward to taking the horn apart. I see the tabs are still there but I bent them when prying. Probably a repair I will do in the winter months. I might just straighten the tabs and set the ring in as a temporary fix if that will work.

If you're going to do that, make sure the tabs are nice and straight
so they don't interfere with the horn button.
Perhaps a little mucilage (paper glue) to hold it in place for now.
