Wedge Looking at a Local TR8 For Sale Little Ruff

My son is interested in purchasing a TR8. I have a local friend who back in Time was the local Triumph service manager. He has a low mileage 1982 TR8 for sale. One of the last 25 made. Anyway we took a look at it today and it is a lots rougher then I remember the car. Needs new paint and interior. very dirty inside and out and just needs a lot of TLC. Worst of all is in the pics. It's the place where you start looking at a Wedge especially up here in the rust belt. Where the rear control arms mount up to the body. Rusted through and cracked. What is he getting into for repairs or is it worth it?
Some of the positives are the factory fuel injection was removed and I think it's a holly carb installed. Came from TSI. 3.45 rear gears and 16" wheels. So if anyone has a fix or even a value for these please chime in.
I will be away for 4 days and going to forward this to him so if anyone answers it will be him.

Nasty, that! But depending of course on the cost of the car, it might be worth saving. The TR8 I had was in great shape, so I dodged that bullet. Wish I could give you an idea of what it would take to repair that, but not in my skillset. Floors and trunk OK? Shock towers? Other serious rust?
