I think they are probably there to contain the raw unbridled horsepower unleashed on acceleration after sidestepping the clutch at about 1500 rpms! prevents the"bonnet" from flying off !!
Saw this at the Britfest 2022 in New Jersey. I tried to have them judge my 77 B by showing them a cell shot but it didn't work. Car has a new home until the brakes are redone. Stage 1 rotors, pads, calipers and some axle seals on the rears. Wifey and I still went to the show. It's a must see if ever in the area.
