XK140 OTS - Pulled the trigger

Country flag
Offline
After going back and forth for weeks I finally pulled the trigger and bought a 1955 XK140 OTS thats been off the road since 1969. I'll try to post a picture tomorrow. I've been wanting one of these for years.

Marv

Sweet! MC?
Always wanted an XK-140MC.
Roadster or DHC.
Funny....like the MK1, and MK2...there wasn't a MK1, just a 2.4 litre sedan and a 3.4 litre sedan....but the nomenclature changed to MK1 when the MK2 came about....there never was an OTC before the E type or even later.
They were Roadster, FHC and DHC.
Just sayin'...not pickin'.
Can't wait for photos..love to see them.

Posting this without pictures is pretty cruel...

I've haven't gotten to the bottom of it all yet. OTS Roadster car. Has wire wheels, I know its not the MC but maybe a M. Pretty complete. Biggest thing I know that missing right now is the side curtains. I have to go back next week and get the rest of the parts. This one will take a while to get back on the road.

Here's a picture when I loaded it this afternoon. It sat on the carport for 30+ years. Last tagged in 1969

OTS is "modern" for Open Two Seater.
Original was Roadster (low door tops), DHC (drop head coupe) or FHC (fixed head coupe).

I am looking at the extended front suspension, and thinking the engine is NOT in the car?

It's knarly, dude.

But, it'll buff out okay.

MC was about the highest performance that was streetable. Have to think...but there was one higher that was competition...but it's been decades, like my memory.
Dave

Love it !!
Indeed a great find, can't imagine finding one over here :-(

This is a Roadster (not windows) or Drop head (convertible with roll up windows)

That's the problem with applying more modern nomenclature to older vehicles.
"OTS" cannot ever address the Roadster or DHC identification.
I argue with the guys in the Jag club and their eyes just glaze over.
Can't understand it.

Basil, yes, the OTS two seater, side curtain convertible 140. Very pleased with myself on getting it. I did have to step up and dig deep to get it. It was black and red originally and I usually go back all original but I've been looking at doing it white. I'm a long way from worrying about color right now. Have to finish the 56 TR3 and then a 57 MGA before I can even think about the 140.

Geo - what were you going to say?

Marv

Nice find, Marvin. Those are beautiful cars. A friend here local has a 140 (DHC) and it is just a lovely thing. That's going to be a massive project for sure, but it'll be delightful when you're all done.

Now I have found a XK150 Drophead. It rough as well but all there. I'll have to sell something before I can buy this one. When it rains it pours.
