Is anyone else flummoxed by seeing a headline that uses a 3d person plural pronoun and then having to reread the headline a couple of times looking for a plural referent only to epiphanize that you are dealing with at an attempt to twist millenia old linguistic conventions into political correctness? I beg the question a myriad of times.

yup - I attribute that to today's "texting", lack of editing, quickie messages instead of thought-out writing, "human resources" departments and "diversity" officers running amok, and even to folks not even thinking what the changes actually imply. Local employers are now strongly suggesting their employees create personal profiles specifying if the employee prefers he, she, it, or they. (And many of those same employees say it's embarrassing, invasive, and intrusive.)

PS - not sure what you mean by "the predicate for this question". What subject lacks a predicate?

Doesn't mean we have to use it however.

Have to admit, I hate where we're headed with language. But it seems like an inevitable path. Can't for the life of me understand why we can't say "he or she" rather than "they" in order not to ruffle feathers. Mainly it's the grammarian in me...

However, let's remember to keep things light here, per Basil's rulings.

While my post as been edited, the predicate mentioned was not in the sentence structure context, but related to the underlying brouhaha.

Nemo - great choice. Mine is Omnis (except in tax matters ...).

Worse for me than the growing use of "they", is the incorrect choice of words, poor spelling, and poor grammar now seen on websites, TV, newspapers, etc.
