Got the block back from the shop - bored 30thou over, decked and polished crank. Tasty! Question though. He didn't pop the frost plugs (I didn't ask) but they look fine. I do have another set but am inclined to leave them as is - what do you think?

cheers!

Block was "boiled" I'll assume. If you have a set of new ones, CHANGE the silly things now, JP. Much easier than finding out one has been corroded ~just~ enough to spring a pin-hole leak after it's all back in the car!

Clean the I.D. of each hole well and apply a *thin* film of Aviation Form-a-Gasket to the mating surfaces when seating the new ones.

And be prepared to clean all sorts of gunk out from behind said plugs.
Me?
I'd have the block on a stand, pressurized garden hose with a trigger nozzle to blow the crXp out, with the block upside down so it all runs out the water ports.

Not sure I'd trust a machine shop that tanked a block without pulling all the plugs......including any galley oil line plugs. Get those out, use some spray carb cleaner and a bore brush.

Thinking the same. But they should come out, regardless.

Don't go back to that shop, and most assuredly change those plugs.
