For three days in October the slots weren't the
attraction at the River Palms Hotel in Laughlin
Nevada, Triumphs were!
The Desert Center Triumph Register produced a fun
filled Triumphest with the traditional Triumphest
events. The featured model was the Stag. Why? It's
easy to extrapolate the year 2007 to 007 and what was
the only Triumph that our favorite spy drove? A
saffron hued Stag in Diamonds are Forever.
Our tough little Triumphs braved the desert
terrain for the annual celebration and their owners enjoyed the autocross, funkhana, rally, funcours, walking tour, hospitality party and awards banquet.
The Awards Banquet featured several guest speakers,
Glenn Merrill, myself, and Blake Disher. Glenn Merrill of the Stag Club offered
a presentation regarding a charity run in 2009 to be
organized by John Macartney. My presentation included
reasons to join VTR, how there are changes in VTR
which make VTR a more attractive organization to us on the west coast and the
announcement that in 2009, Triumphest will also be a
VTR National event to be held in the fall in San Luis Obispo, CA.
Blake Disher presented his vision for the future of
VTR, that the National Convention will be in Detroit in 2008, and how for him attending Triumphest was an
enjoyable, informative, and positive experience.
Yes, we had a blast, kudos to DCTRA for organizing the
event, and hold onto your hats guys, Triumphest is at
Lake Tahoe next year presented by Triumph Travelers.
