I've now driven my TR8 approximately 2300 miles, since I bought it in June and it runs like a charm. It was a dual carburetor converted to a 4 barrel Holly with a K&N filter. My other LBC is a '77 MGB roadster, so this is quite a change.
The weather here has been mostly in the range of 60 to 70 degrees F, and the temperature gauge car has been staying at 1/4. For the past few weeks, it has been running at just below 1/2, but the temperature has been warmer in the 80's.
The previous owner had changed the coolant last fall, and according to my mechanic everything looks fine in that department. I changed the thermostat to a lower temperature unit, but that doesn't help. My mechanic tells me that this is normal, and that these 8 cylinder cars do run hotter.
I was planning to head down to Bennington VT for the Cruise-in at Hemmings tomorrow night (a 5 hour drive). Am I right to worry about the higher temperature, or is this normal?
