Didn't pay enough attention when removing timing cover to replace seal. Of the 10 bolts/screws that came out 7 are of the slotted head variety, 5 short and 2 long. There are two hex bolts of the same length and number 10 is MIA (I assume this is the short screw headed bolt referred to in manual whose location is critical, as in bottom left hole).
Did the PO replace some of the short slotted screws with longer ones? Other than the short one indicated in the manual is there any real reason to worry about the length? Why the slotted head (panhead?) versus typical hex head for some?
The 2 studs are in correct location in block and have not been removed.
Common sense can lead me to the correct answer hopefully but curiosity causes me to ask for sage advice from the board. Thanks in advance.
