TR4/4A TR4A Windshield

Hi all
My car is getting painted and I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get the liner that is on the inside of the windshield frame? The frame is off and ready to be painted and I would like to replace it. It is almost like contact paper. I checked the big three but did not see it listed.

I think you are referring to the black vinyl?

I just bought a yard of vinyl from a fabric sore and cut pieces to size, and glued them on.I found vinyl with a similar grain to the original and I used large clips like you see on a clipboard to hold in place while drying.

The vinyl was 54 inches wide so there was plenty.

Use the MOSS TR6 finisher kit pn 801-268. Frame is same to tr4.

Check and test the vinyl you use carefully. I used auto headliner vinyl in my TR4 with spray contact cement. At first everything seemed to bond well, but later the vinyl seemed to release from the frame. Very frustrating as you can't repair it with out redoing the whole windshield. If I were to do it again I would buy the vinyl that moss sells and use the cement they recommend.

Since these are described as 'fully moulded' and cost $111 I am guessing they are something different than what was originally used though perhaps they look the same once in place.

Thanks everyone for their replies. I am leaning towards the Moss product but will check out using my own vinyl with an emphasis on a good adhesive.

I have a TR4, I bought the finishing kit for it a long time ago and I have yet to install it. I see it doesn't show it for the 4 any longer?? How would it get fixed? Would it be glued, my concern was it may expand & ripple and it is not in the most accessable location.

I went the glue my own vinyl on route. It worked fine, but do be aware that it will be thicker than the original. It didn't create any issues for me, though.

I am inspired now to get this puppie running. I hope to show photos of that momentous occasion. It will be a momentous occasoion to my wife as she has put up with it in the garage for 20+ yeats.
