TR4/4A TR4a surprise

I bought a 67 TR4a out of Greer SC a week or so ago and it came with several containers of parts. One box had a light blue interior that looks to be original in pretty sad shape, but it also contained a new top in its original packaging. The label on the box included 2 names, Joe Alexander from Cedar Falls, Iowa and Roger Hobart from Mims, Florida. I don't recognize the names, but they may known to some of you.

Really? Here's Joe's site https://www.the-vintage-racer.com . He also supplies to the big 2 or 3.
And Roger - https://www.triumphexp.com/member/mimssandi

What else did you find? Any engine photos?

Peter,
Thanks for the info! I bought the car from Alan Salvatore and he bought it in Florida as an unfinished project. The car doesn't have much rust, but some of the sheet metal repair is done with rivets vs welding and will have to be put right. The drivers side inner sill needs replacing as well and the paint job will be stripped since it's a 20 footer at best. The valve cover has additional breathers, but I don't know the extent of any previous engine work if any.
thanks, Rut

Be fun to see if Joe remembers the car. Maybe get some stories about it.

Rut, I'm glad to see you're getting back in the saddle!

But what I really want to know--how did you find a good TR4A restoration candidate so quickly? I looked for one for over a year and finally settled on an MG TD as a restoration project. I sold it over a year ago and started looking for a TR4 again. Finally found a TR4A about 10 months after selling the TD. It's a good car for restoration, mostly complete, so I think it was worth the wait. But there are far fewer TR4s than other marques, and finding a good restoration candidate, with an owner who is realistic about its value, seems almost impossible.

Rut,
I know Joe Alexander. He has been to the farm acouple of times. Look him up on Friends of Triumph. He is well known in the Triumph world. Makes some good parts. Bet I have got 10 pairs of wire wheels spacers from him. Nice guy.

Update: I emailed Roger and he replied with some specifics about the car. The engine has been rebuilt and the head shaved to increase compression and the carbs are new, so I may just do a service and see if it fires up. Once I have a shop I'll start pulling it apart and stripping everything and I hope the sheet metal is in as good of shape as it appears.
