Down here in Johannesburg

Well the time has nearly arrived for our 50th tour celebration. We leave on Wednesday 28 May 2008 for a 1600 mile trip from Johannesburg sort of straight down via a few deviations to the coast, then up along the east coast passing Durban and back to Johannesburg. 7 days and 6 nights. A lot of planning, hotel bookings, regalia, tour booklets but after been co-opted onto the organizing committee I feel the effort has been worth it and am looking forward to seeing parts of the country I have never seen before.

Where am I heading with this article? well on Saturday we had our scrutineering to make sure all cars were roadworthy and I came across a very novel place to put a tool box. The gentleman had removed his heater, wrapped some tools in a cloth and shoved it in the hole under the heater. Then put velcro on the heater area and under a plastic toolbox and the toolbox is where the heater should be. It fitted like as if it was made to be there see picture.

What a heck of an excuse not to have a heater.

Good luck on your tour, hope all goes smoothly.

I like that toolbox location... no heater in the Tunebug right now, so I may have to consider something like that. Very clever.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that it was 1979 Midget 1500.
PS re tour the winter arrived, rain and temps down to single figures in the morning 6C (low 40F). All roads are tarred (paved) but unfortunately potholes due to lack of upkeep. A polite way of saying I won't get into politics.
