Had a thought for a thread while fixing a rusty 67MGB rag at work today. My customer purchased this car thinking it was a rust free example as all of the typical areas MGB cars rust, seemed perfect! Well paint can hide a multitude of sins and bad work,of course all the problem areas were problems still, just neatly hidden. These uni-body cars are extremely hard to repair properly with major rust out while maintaining fit and strength due to the many layers of layering metal. Many panels are very hard to remove because everything is welded and boxed in. Ya just can't get to panels easily to remove them, it is a puzzle at best.
With a full frame car there is less boxing in of body areas as the extra strength is not needed. So my thoughts are if you want to save a rusty old bucket maybe pick a TR body and avoid a Healey or a MGB these cars are not as body friendly even for a pro.
just my 2 Pence!
