Rally Style Grill

In relation to one of the styles of front grill used by some of the works rally cars, where some of the side vertical slats were removed and replaced by a polished aluminium scoop to channel air into the radiator ...

... how did the cold air intake get its fresh air feed?

Probably it didn't although I'm not sure about the cars that ran with SUs.

Any cars that have Webers installed have to junk all that tubing. I have also removed my heater and all the stuff that goes with it.

Don't see any provision for cool air venting to the cockpit on URX 727

I think they were probably more concerned with engine cooling than passenger cooling. IIRC, Ann Wisdom had some issues with the heat in the cockpit of this car.

Wow, that price is really good. All you then need is the stainless steel mesh which you can source for about £20 and a couple of stainless steel struts to mount it on. Massively cheaper than the AH Spares option.

That's what that little scoop in front of the windshield is for.

I have another thread going right now regarding controlling the path of air through the healey radiator, which got me thinking about the Rally radiator ducting discussed here. Another link with decent photos is:
https://www.ahexp.com/phorum/read.php?7,183863

Does anyone know how these rally radiator intakes are installed without interfering with the cross member in front of the radiator? I am not so worried about historic accuracy, but just the practical question of if you bought one of these, how do you install it when the cross member sure seems like it would get in the way. Thanks.
