TR2/3/3A Orfering parts for steering box rebuild

I'm planning on rebuilding my steering box. The box is still in the car but I want to go ahead and order parts. Here's a list of what I think I need:
Peg
Rocker shaft bushing and oil seal
Top plate gasket
Shim plate gasket
Anti-rattle rings
Upper column bushing
Olive and nut
Bearing assemblies

From your experiences, have I overlooked anything?
Will I likely need the bearings ($65 X2)?
How would I know if my worm is worn (no pun here guys)?
Any tips for the rebuild?

TIA Russ

I'd want to have a selection of shims on hand, so you can get the adjustment just right and not be tempted to fudge it. The thinnest ones are billed as being .0024", but the original ones I've saved are closer to .003", meaning you can move in .001" steps by adding and subtracting. For example, to go down by .001", remove a .010" and add three .003".

Hard to say about the bearings. If the old ones have always been kept in clean lube and not abused, they are probably OK. But that is a big IF.

Be sure to save your old nut & olive. Originals were slightly different dimensions than modern ones, you may find that new ones don't fit properly.

If it is a 2-piece column, you won't need the anti-rattle rings. I'm not convinced they were needed even with the one piece, if you've got enough vibration to deflect that far, the problems are a lot more serious than some rattling. But in any case, they weren't used with the two-piece. And of course, if it's not 2 piece, you won't need the bushing assemblies.

Visual inspection should do for the worm. Another sign of wear is if a fresh peg still gives you two tight spots instead of just one, or one spot that is way off to one side.

Might want a new fill plug, they get hard over time, but that can be changed with it still in the car.

If you don't already have a dial indicator, I'd suggest getting one. I've tried setting the end float in other ways and never been happy with the result.

I have some of the parts that you need. I can send them to for the cost of shipping. I want to get rid of parts that I won't use and would like to give them to the cars that need them. (or as my Wife said "GIT RID OF ALL THAT %&$#") so I am.

Dan, I'll take the box for sure. I'll pm my address.
I'll pay for the postage and your time. I really appreciate your generosity.
Are you looking for anything I might have?. Maybe some more %&$# for your wife to admire?
Thanks
Russ
