I'm trying to identify a set of links which were bolted to an IRS pumpkin that I bought from Concours West this winter. They look about like the "V" you make with your index and middle finger if you give the "peace" sign and they were bolted into the rear brake caliper mounting points on the side bearing housings. Oh, it's an XJ6 unit supposedly. Otherwise it appears perfectly normal.
Speculation is rampant. Some sort of outboard brake setup that uses this as a mounting point for something else? Some Cobra thing? One guy took one of them home with him and was not able to match up the part number. But it's either cast or forged and looks like a factory part. There's a bolt hole at the root of the "V" and a machined slot but it does not look substantial enough for a single-point brake caliper mount and it might interfere with the brake rotor anyway.
I'll try to attach a photo. Please let me know if anyone can identify it.
