TR6 Modify TR6 Column Light Switch?

Help1 After endless hours of studying the schematics and fuses blowing, I realized the column headlight switch in my 1970 tr6 is actually from a 1973 tr6. The 1970 switch shows 5 wires because it doesn't have a seperate dash mounted headlight switch. Is it possible to modify/solder/splice or SOMETHING to get it to work with my new 1970 main harness? The wires on the 73 switch are blue/red, blue/white/, brown, red/brown. I'd really hate to buy a new switch. Any thoughts?

I tried to modify a later switch in my 70 TR-6 many years ago and finally gave up and bought the correct switch. It will save you many blown fuses and melted harness leads down the road, IMHO,

There are many, many variations on that basic switch assembly. In this case, though, I'm not sure that's it is reasonably possible to convert a two-position switch to a three-position one; probably easier to try to swap with someone or just get the correct one and sell yours.

Thanks everyone. It seems the general opinion is to get a new one. So...I did, from Moss. Then I saw TRF had one for $120 less. Shop around? Me? Idiot.

Not to knock TRF but the one from Moss is probable from the UK and the one TRF sells is probably a knock off. But I could be talking out my wind pipe.
