TR6 Milling the head

getting ready to reassemble the engine. Cylinders are.020 over, plan on using the BP2 camshaft. Any suggestions on milling the head? How much?
Where to set the timing?
I have the triple Weber set up but feel like it might be more than needed. Thinking about using the Strombergs that were the original carbs. Any input appreciated. GO 🇬🇧

On my 71, I had .125 taken off to get a 47cc chamber. The machinist was agast"thats an eighth of an inch"
Well the factory added metal to "achieve lower compression" and it needs to come off.Try for
9.5/1 . Do a little work on the intake ports. I liked the tri carb setup from good parts just added a Stromberg
More $$ and I would have done 3 SU;s

I used Richard Goods website (> Good Parts | Custom TR6 Parts <) to determine compression ratio vs head thickness to also get a higher compression ratio. I didn’t go quite to 9.5:1 because I wanted to leave a little incase the head needed removal again and it could then be decked for flatness. I am using the original twin ZS carb setup with a BP270N cam which works well. I don’t find the car to be starving for fuel at all…but the triple weber setup is eye candy!
I’m not sure how the BP2 and my cam compare but mine is a Newman cam and it came with it’s own timing instructions.

Thanks for the input. I’ve done a lot of American made engines but I’m learning a lot about the Triumph world and enjoying it.
I’ve seen Newman cam mentioned before. I take that it’s a quality cam. Who’s the best vendor for the BP270

Suggest you measure the volume of the combustion chambers first, otherwise you can not be certain of the desired compression ratio.

That’s a bit subjective perhaps, but I bought mine from and have had pretty good luck with British Parts Northwest (bpnorthwest.com). Richard Good’s stuff is very well regarded but spendy. If you’re into modifying your car he has lots of drool worthy things on his site…
