Kangol seat belts 1968/69

I need to have my seat belts rewebbed for the 68 MGC...but do not want to do so until I have a complete latch mechanism...as you can see, the one I have is broken...although it does function.Anyone out there have a belt (or set of belts) that youwant to get rid of? I don't care about the condition of the webbing itself..Ssnake-Oyl will take care of that for me!

Of course I was suggesting just the mechanicals, based on the original question.... not including the webbing!

I usually toss old seat belts because of their age..all i need is somebody to put them in their car without renewing the webbing & get killed....

Yep, Rick, those are what I have also.

The ones in Rick's picture are the magnetic latch type used before the later recoil belts.

This won't help much, but certain Mercedes (190?) of the period used the same belts (without the BMC logo of course). Sadly, I don't have any spares. I bought a used set off eBay to reweb and add to the back of the Mini. These belts aren't as rare as Hen's Teeth, but you may have to search for a while until you find rebuildable cores. Keep watching eBay Motors using keywords like Kangol and Mercedes along with other important qualifiers like seat-belt, seatbelt, etc., in all possible permutations. They do show up.

If you wanted to sell the hardware but not sorry about people using them without rewebbing them, you could cut the old webbing before shipping them....

I got a response from Canada the same day I posted on the Experience site, and the belts are in the process of being shipped. THese belts will need to be rewebbed...I'll have Ssnake-Oyl do that (unless one of you have a better suggestion).

I appreciate the IMMEDIATE responses that I received on both BBS and of course, am pleased that it came to a successful conclusion.

I've only heard good things about Ssnake-Oyl. They don't work cheap but they have a good reputation. I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results.

Hi Doug,
Thanks! We're doing well. The B has changed from a rolling resto to a stationary resto in preparation for Gatlinburg. It's in a bazillion pieces right now, slowly (too slowly) becoming one color. The C has been put aside for a bit.... :-( Once Gatlinburg is over, then I'll get back on the C (and looking for a Mini, and a T-series, and build a garage, and rip out the carpet in the house & lay hardwoods, and..... I have a suspicion I'm going to run out of money before I run out of projects! ;-)
