Good article, I agree with just about all of it. He actually confirms my belief that the very long change intervals aren't good for a motor, as with Amsoil. I run Mobil 1 almost exclusively in my cars, and I run them to about 5K between changes (using regular Mobil 1, not the EP). Amsoil advertises change intervals up to 25K depending on the grade you use, which I think is crazy no matter how good their product is. I know they tell you to make sure you are changing the filter every few thousand, but a filter does not remove acids, moisture, fuel, phosphates, and sulfur, all contributors of sludge.

Yes it was interested reading. But in my 35 years of car ownership I've always followed 1 rule. If the manufactor says change the oil at 3000, then I change the oil at 3000 miles. Plus I have never used synethic oil. Call me cheap but I don't think its worth the price. I've always have had good results using conventional oil. In fact I usually keep my cars at least 10 years and average about 160,000 miles w/o losing an engine. I'm sure this topic is gonna create some very interesting discussions. Just putting in my 2 cents worth even though my though I am usually only offered a penny for my thoughts. LOL
