Thanks for the heads-up. I love TRF, but some of their prices are still higher on this sale than others, so worth doing some spot checking if price if your primary driver. <span style="text-decoration: underline">Not</span> going to get into relative merits of suppliers. <grin>

okay, so I realize I'm probably going to be a sh!t stirrer with this, but ever since I've joined the list I've wondered why talking about the vendors we rely on is off-limits. I respect Basil's decision to do so and I assume the rule probably came about for a good reason. However, I think there are some valid points to be made for being able to discuss them in a respectful manner.

One of the great things about forums like these is the transparency they provide- real people giving real feedback. To me, not allowing any discussion of vendors on the forum is like amazon not allowing user reviews or ebay not allowing seller ratings.

There is a huge difference between unqualified vendor-bashing and honest feedback. I can see how things could easily get out of control with differing opinions about the big 3 and smaller vendors, but at the same time I think it would be extremely helpful be able to be honest about our opinions of the companies we spend lots of dollars with. Most companies these days embrace the idea of open customer feedback because they realize that a few negative blog posts can sully their reputation. Why should the British car restoration industry be any different?

Not to mention that talking about vendors who sell parts that are flawed could be a real safety issue- I seem to recall a recent thread where some below-par brake parts were being discussed, but the poster didn't mention the name of the vendor for fear of breaking forum rules.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents on the subject.

Yes, I would rather pay a premium for quality than face the frustration and added costs of a poor quality product's failure, regardless of the supplier.

The problem with our hobby is there are far to few manufacturers of parts and we HAVE to let the companies we do business with that a part is low quality or ill fitting so they can have it fixed or reman the part themselves as TRF does.

That's all I'm gonna say about that!
