As far as scope creep goes, I bought a pretty good example of a TR6 with little to no rust with the though of driving the heck out of it as was. NOW......New brakes, master cylinder, brake servo, heater motor, dash board, electric fan, rebuilt motor with a hotter cam and compression, triple carbs, headers, exhaust, rebuilt distributor, rebuilt transmission, new rear hubs, differential, half-shafts, verticle link, springs, bushings, front rotors, wheels and tires, various wiring fixes and upgrades, AND countless hours cursing....
