TR6 eBay TR6 -- Anyone know this car?

The search for the TR6 to bestow upon my girlfriend for her 30th continues. Found this interesting one on eBay -- Anyone know the car, by any chance?

Looks nice. But I do find amusing the fact that it's "all original" when it has "[a]ll new interior, brake system, rebuilt engine, new top, all new carpet"! :wink:

I went and saw it myself. It's got some lower quarter panel rust (3 of 4 panels are probably in need of replacement). It was running a week ago, he said, but it stalled and he wasn't able to get it restarted. There's some rust under the spare tire that goes through the metal, and some rust on the upper panel behind the drivers shoulder. The toe boards (foot wells, under the driver/passenger foot area) may need to be replaced. They were soft to the touch in a few spots. Everything was there though. And he had some new trim pieces and tonnae covers. It has wire wheels, but not knockoffs...

It looked as though it had had some rust repair done by a body shop a few years back, and it was starting to show again. Lots of lumpy sections.


I offered $2000 for it (what I really thought it was worth in unrunning condition), but he wouldn't take it.

Boy, I have to know that Bill S. is surely thrilled to hear your description of the "Orig, Restored" TR6.

Your surely can`t tell from the pics, as it does look pretty darn nice. When I looked; The first thing that came to my mind was; Why no frontal shots? Is she Orange or Red?

Don't know the car, but it does look nice.

Only potential red flag for me would be that the seller has no history on ebay, though registered for a while. I'd sure have the car inspected, regardless.

It's always a red flag for me when I see a zero feedback seller. It's even more of a red flag when this seller has been on ebay for over 1 year with no purchases or sales. These are the accounts scammers tend to take over because no one is paying attention to it. I would email the seller and ask for his phone number. Do a reverse search on MSN white pages to verify it's him. Ask for a land line not cell # and really be sure you are dealing with a real person with a real car for sale. He may be perfectly legit, and maybe not. Get a comfort zone before you send cash. I just bought a Mini off the web. By going to Google earth I could see the house in the background of the pictures from googles satelite photo's , phone # came up legit and I went from there. I might be a bit paranoid, but I haven't gotten ripped off yet.

I have never bought nor sold anything on eBay. If I decide to sell something there someday, will no one bid on it because I have zero feedback?

Best way is to buy a few items first, IMO, to build up your feedback a bit. If you don't want to do that, then start with selling some relatively inexpensive and simple items. Don't just dive right in selling whole cars.

Zero feedback doesn't mean no bids at all, since only some people will stay away. But it likely does mean less than top dollar (another good reason to start with inexpensive items).
