You probably have already read this article but, just in case. I thought it to be very interesting and pointed out many points of interest on other British made products. Quite nice article. PJ

Especially interesting since the UK couldn't keep their Daimpler alive yet we all know about Germany's Daimler.....

I think the interesting part is that the Daimler name for both companies came from the same person. A German engineer named Gottlieb Daimler. The German company being the original company that he founded, the British concern being a licensed use of the Daimler name by the F R Simms & Co. The trouble that came about from more than one company trying to build cars carrying the Daimler name was soon realized and a car dealer talked the German company into building some cars under the Mercedes name (his daughters name) so he could sell them in France.

The British Daimler name has been part of Jaguar since 1960 and remains with Jaguar even under Tata ownership. Jaguar XJ sedans that were Vanden Plas models in the US were badged as Daimlers in the UK. The most notable trim difference were fluted grills on the Daimler badged vehicles.

& the windshield on Jerri's Mercedes has a little decal with Daimler's signature on it.
