Post-War Other 52 Triumph Mayflower restoration

Did a complete frame off on my 67 4A and now tackeling a 52 Triumph Mayflower. Great little car. Presently have torn apart the front end and the suspension is like the TR 2-3. I could really use your help in finding a few of the broken bits on the car. First is a replacement chocke knob. They are an off white (not black) hard plastic material. Will also need to find replacement rubber seals for all the windows etc. Anyone have any ideas. Appreciate any and all info. I can email anyone with pictures if you forward me your email. Thanks again for any ideas.

MAYFLOWER... Holy cow! I've only seen one of those in the flesh. It's owned by a guy here on Long Island I've know for 30 years. He had it when I met him, and still had it the last time I talked to him about six months ago. It's the youngest car in his collection. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

For the window seals, you will probably have to match something up. Steele Rubber Products has a line of old type seals. They cater mostly to the domestic cars, but if you give them a call, and possibly send in a small sample they may be able to match something up.

Thanks for the info. Up here in Canada parts for these babies are hard to come by. The story is told that a whole shipment of these Mayflowers was dumped in our Vancouver harbour as a tax write off cause they could not sell them by 1954 the competition made them just too underpowered.

There is someone here in the US who is or was reproducing some of the window rubbers. I'll try to dig around and see if I can find his contact info. That choke knob, and the others on the dash, are made of the usual unobtanium. It's possible someone in or connected with The Mayflower Club is reproducing knobs, though.

And that club is pretty much your best bet for most bits. I've not been able to maintain my membership over the years, but they were invaluable back when I first got my Mayflower and was determined to get it on the road (which I did, for several years, until minor mechanical problems as well as family situations got in the way, and the car got stored).

If you're interested, I'd like to list your car on my Database page (URL in .sig file below). There is also a small but dedicated (and, as you might expect, low-traffic) e-mail list for Mayflower owners (not to take anything away from this forum, of course). Details are on my web site.

BTW, my car (in better days) is pictured on the VTR web site. It is TT22461LDL, one of the 500 or so "officially" imported by Fergus Motors of New York City for the US market.

Thanks for your help in trying to locate the rubber seal people. Also no objection to any information shared about the Mayflower. If you would like plaque numbers just let me know. I have made contact with jolly olde Mayflower club and will register at some point during my efforts to rebuild this car. Thanks again everyone.
