$1900.00 Morris Minor?

I don't know why but I've always like the Morris Minor.

A local guy has a 'project' '59 Minor for sale. Nice floors...runs...decent body but needs paint and a L/R fender. Seems this would be a great daily driver with a little work.

Comments?

They're ripe for 1275 & ribcage trans conversion...along with front disc brakes & 14" MGB wires....

Seems a fair price. I sold 3 this spring 1 60/2/59's,1 great body/runs/drives/1 runs needs rust work and 1 parts car for $2900.00 They promptly sold the runs/rusty body for $1500.00 and kept the parts car.
Check where the torsion bars mount and front and inner frame rails, besides the obvious places.

Yankee.... I stopped and looked at it too. Not bad. Were you at your show? Where?

Same guy has 3 VW beetles that are a better deal. Did you look at the blue MGB? Very very scary.

I THINK the blue MGB was the one that ran around the area the last few years with a 'duct tape' top.

I didn't look at the VW's. I stopped this morning on my way to work.

Yes, I was at the show...I WORK for the show. I do the advertising and publicity and it's my full time gig. I was a REAL busy weekend...

Would YOU buy that Morris for a fair price?

I already have a "few". a 1957 sittin' under the apple tree, and a 1931 OHC "Cammy" Fabric Saloon.

Besides, I wouldn't be able to sleep in it, and THAT, I've been told by SWMBO, must be a feature of the next car I buy ;-)

Anytime you see an old 1275 w/ribcage trans laying around - grab it!

Exactly what did these originally come in?

Out of a Midget, if I am correct.

As for the Minor, that's a fair price if it's not rusty! The greasy bits are simple/cheap/interchangeable with other BMC stuff. Great little cars, full of character, fun to drive!

Yep, they came in MG Midgets & AH Sprites....fit the Morris Minor nicely & make it a real roadworthy car...front disc brakes off a Midget or Spitfire & 14" wire wheels off an MGB complete the package....Minors never came with wires so they make it a real looker...& the 14" really fill the wheel wells.

I've got a chance at a '64 here, RHD, with a 1098, single carb in it.(stock) Good floors and body, so-so rear fenders, but the glitch is NO TITLE. Maybe I can talk him down from his $900 asking price over that little detail. Still has the British plate on it, too.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to go take another look at the car on my way home. I pass the [censored] thing everyday...it's killing me!
