    100 ID plate inside cockpit

Does anyone know of a source for the plastic engraved plate with chassis and engine number that was located inside the cockpit? I believe these were on the early BN1's thanks in advance

Mine came from Bill Park in Petrolia, Ontario. I had to go through the 100 Registrar, Rich Chrysler, at the time, for security reasons. Try the new registrar.

Where is this mounted? Never seen or heard of this plate?

Was there a different style plate on later BN1's? Mine is from Oct 54 and the plate looks like this

Actually thinking about it, it makes sense that the plate changed when the car number and engine number were united. Mine is a RHD, the plate is also in the passenger footwell, but on the other side :-)

Don't know for sure, but your plate is usually found on the firewall in the engine compartment.

I agree with British_Recovery, Simon. I thought only the white plastic plate is found inside the footwell.

Re: 100 ID plate inside cockpit

In Original Austin Healey Clausager says on page 47 referring to the plate David inquires about: "Early 1953-1954 BN1 models have this plate giving car and engine numbers on the scuttle side casing just in front of the door." and also that "In addition, these early 1953-1954 BN1s also have a chassis plate on the right-hand chassis rail by the master cylinder bracket."

And, as Simon says, after Austin went to unified numbering the plates became as shown in his post--a long oval--located along the left side of the footwell (or at least this is how it is in my late 1954 car #222333 which is also left-hand drive).

Anderson/Moment say on page 50 that on most later cars these later plates were mounted to the firewall in the engine compartment but on some cars were mounted in the interior footwell--so I guess for later cars either location is correct and where the plate was installed depended upon who was doing the work and how his back felt that day!

My original plate was in the foot well, and as you can see this is where Fourintune put it back. Michael's car and mine look like they are 2 months apart in production.
