Bought a MGC this week. In garage for 30 years, 33,894 miles. Three wheels stuck when tried to move it. I drained the old gas, got the fuel pump working, cleaned plugs and points. Cranked it up, good oil pressure, built clutch hyd.s and drove it around the yard today. No rust in the body, original floor matting and carpet.

Marv, I also have an MGC, and I would tell you to look carefully at the servo units. When I bought mine (and parts car) all servos
were full of brake fluid due to bad seals. If you losw fluid in the master and see no obvious leaks elsewhere, suspect them.

I have had a few of these. Great cars to go hunting down Those little German cars with. Be careful with the gearbox!

As Bob knows I'm more of a TR guy but know these are kinda hard to find, esp in this condition. Will probably spruce it up some more and let it go.

Tell-tale sign will be the "James Bond-ish" plume of white smoke behind you as the brake fluid is combusted. These servos don't like to sit unused.

Looks to be 1968. Nice score, Marv.

Nope....1969. Telltale signs are the "chicklet-style, two post" headrests (a one-year only feature - 1968 did not have headrests), the reflectors on the front and rear wings (also a one-year only feature-1968 had no reflectors, the 1970 model year (where there were no MGCs) saw the introduction of side marker lights.), and the use of three windscreen wipers (1968 and prior years only had two; 1969 began the use of three wipers for the North American market).

Yep, a very early 69. I have to get paperwork squared away. PO thought it was 68. Thats what is on BOS. I've already found a new home for it.

That was my opinion way back in the day. The car was somewhat of a flop but today it's looking better due to its rarity.

A dog! Revs slow, steering very heavy. Would be a decent highway crusier but give me the TR6 anyday.
Marv

Then it's not tuned properly...both ignition/carbs and suspension. The MGC is a great car and a FANTASTIC tourer...with a LOT of torque.

I agree with Rick. My C is quite peppy. I would look at the king pins and give them a good lube. You might also want to check the torsion bar bushings
and replace them. How's the alignment? The steering rack might be dry and adding to the heaviness of the steering.
