The crew of B-17 "Mi Amigo" died when their aircraft crashed near Endcliffe Park, England, February 22, 1944. They were returning from a mission over Aalborg, Denmark.

Tony Foulds, a boy playing with friends, witnessed the crash; since then, he always felt the pilot had saved his life, as the aircraft missed him when coming down near where he had been playing. As an adult, Mr. Foulds cared for the local memorial to the Fortress crew.
This morning in England, the entire crew was honored:
