Mini-Race Car

There are three of us locally (in my area) who race in EMRA.
And we all own Brit cars.

Pete has a Sprite (that I race occasionally).
Bruce has a 1275 Mini that he has been trying to get finished all Winter.
Pete and I are interested in getting Bruce's car ready for the first event.....this way we'll have another small-bore Brit car to race!
Plus we like Bruce. Bruce also has a nice 1275 street Mini and a new MINI.

Anyway, we volunteered to spend all Saturday working on his car.
We got tons done and the car *may* be ready for the first race (in two weeks). If not, it will be definitley be ready for the following race at nearby Pocono.

Here's some fuzzy pictures of Bruce's car as we worked on it.

Later, when were at a logical stopping point, we got to drive a 1600 Turner. Then we drank beer. It was a great day.

Yeah...we're hoping the Min will be a go-er.

We haven't had any new Brit cars in our club recently. Last year we had a nice 1275 Mini at our Lime Rock event, but the motor exploded big-time and we haven't seen him since.

In 2006, EMRA will be at the old Summit Point circuit (WV), the new Shenandoah track (at the Summit Point facility), BeaveRun (sorta near Pittsburgh, PA), Lime Rock (Conn), and Pocono Raceway (PA).

Normally, we run Watkins Glen too, but our date got cancelled this year due to their Fall re-paving program.....we should be back next year.
We are also looking at the new Thunderbolt race track for '07. It's being built near Cape May, NJ.

In the past, we've also run Bridgehampton (gone, but not forgotten), Adirondack Speedway (NY) and Shannonville (in Ontario).

There are three other new tracks being planned in the northeast USA (including one in Mass) and we will be considering them as they are put in operation..

We are always on the lookout for new venues....our club like variety in tracks.

*more pics*- Mini-Race Car

Our friend Tim driving Bruce's Mini in the Time Trial last Saturday at the Shenandoah Circuit at Summit Point. He won his class (in the rain). Tim also won our first ever EMRA 4-Hour Night Enduro over 20 years ago in the rhd Mini he bought new in '65 (he still has it...it's now a flawless street car). Tim actually worked at Spreens in the '60s.

That's a sharp looking car.

Did he change wheels? The wheels on the track are different than those on the trailer.

Yep.
The gold wheels are from his '64 street Mini, which were used as "rains".
It was dry the second day so he put on the Yoko DOT/Race tires.
He also had a new MINI, but he just sold it.

Wish I found this thread earlier, but I have been busy =goofing off. I raced a Mini in SCCA for 12 years, back in the 80s........sometimes against Ed Spreen..... would love to get involved again somehow......

We were just at the Moss Motors Fallfest with this Min last wekend and Bruce raced it against me at Pocono the week before. It'll be at Lime Rock on October 28. Come on over!
