Hey guys, I just bought a 1984 Royale RP33 Formula Ford roller. I am desparately searching for an engine and tranny for this car. I believe the following engines will work: Ford Kent 1600, Cortina 1600 or 2000, Ford Escort (UK), Ford Pinto 1600. And some others, anyone have any contacts for FF parts? Thanks fellas,
Mitchel

Also, I have it on good authority that.... " I think Royale parts are available from the Fulmer Competition Services, in the UK. You could also try Rollin Butler at Cricket Farm Engines. I believe he used to race a Royale FF for the US importer. Butler can also supply a FF1600 engine for the car."

Always happy to help a "fellow fella".

What do you want to do with it? The true Formula Ford engine was not sold in the US in any car except maybe the Capri 1600, and few of those were sold. A Pinto 1600 has the correct block, but the wrong head. All US Cortinas have a wimpier block and crank, and a different head. They are all Kent engines.

I suggest that you join the SCCA to get their newsletter. The FF classifieds are extensive. Finding an engine to install will be easy. Finding a legal FF engine for your car, which could be competitive, will be harder.

You want the 711 block, which 1600cc Pintos had, but you do not want that head. You need the "Uprated" head. There are aluminum heads being made in the US which are legal in some FF racing which make good power. On a car that old your local club may not allow it. Two of my Cortinas have 711 Crossfows, but both are modified well beyond what FF allows.

BAT in Florida sells tons of FF stuff. I bought a ported head there once.
