long story short, I’m selling an engine and trans from a 65 herald.
Last week I bought a herald for cheap money. A 1965 convertible (1200?) from a man who was the second owner. I’ll chronicle the serendipitous nature of the purchase in the new member forum, but it was meant to be.
in any event the car from about 7” off the pavement is totally disintegrated. All four wheels are locked up, the floors are gone, the tires don’t hold air, But the wood dash, convertible frame, and trim is all in tact and in good shape. The interior is complete....that said the car is destined for a chassis swap (currently looking like an air cooled beetle chassis) and therefore will be getting disassembled.
The cherry on top of this excellent little gem, though is that the engine fired right up! Plugs, wires, and a carb cleaningoff she went...purring like a kitten.
Given the shape of the car and the damage that occurred to the front suframe when dragging it out of the lawn and onto a trailer with four locked wheels, I see this as an opportunity to give the good panels new life on a diff carriage and let the heart (which was a replacement at some point) power someone else’s project.
I’m selling off the engine and trans and can provide photos and video of it tuning to anyone interested.
all this said I have a soft spot for these old Herald convertibles and would be interested in purchasing one in better condition for restoration.
