I've heard the same thing. I was discussing Mini's with a co-worker yesterday... and she mentioned about an uncle who used to own a Mini back in the 1960's, and she told me he was about 6'4".
Actually I believe part of the issue/answer is how long your legs are in proportion to the upper body - no matter what height you are. I've met one guy who is of average height but has shorter legs than most, and he has trouble fitting into some older sports cars.

well im a fat man with a frame of 17stone i fit gr8 as long as i got no-one in the car lol nah reallly its cool mini for big man
Hunh....next time I see a Mini, I'll have to see if the owner will let me try it on. Just by looking at them I've always figured I would not fit, at least not if I wanted to drive the thing! Oddly enough, I tried out a new MINI at the Chicago Auto Show, and did not fit in it at all....

Thanks for the responses. I did ride in a mini while in England, but that was nearly fifteen years ago. Luckily my dimensions haven't changed that much, but maybe my tolerance has.
My problem is that to get the necessary leg room, I end up with my arms fully extended. But, my concern was whether or not I could actually sit up straight in one. Sounds like I can.
Can't wait to finally buy one!

At 6'7", I fit pretty well into the new Mini, although the seat was all the way back against the back seat. Haven't driven one for long, though. Borrow one overnight. As for the old Mini, my father drove one for years back in the 60's, and he was 6'5". He always said it was one of his favorite cars. Get the sunroof, just in case.

6'3" and fit good. I rode in the back seat for 3 hours and was not uncomfortable, but the front seat raised would give a little more room. I ordered an S. I went to a show in St. Louis and there was a family of four that drove there old mini from Ohio with there gear and no one seemed cramped.
