XJ40 vs Escort

Friday evening I was involved in a heinous action which resulted in
Trixie getting smacked in the rear bumper by the front bumper of a
1999 escort. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Apparently, there is an idiot driving an old, beat-up pickup truck
who is targeting luxury cars. He cuts in front of the unsuspecting
driver, slams on his brakes and hopes for an impact. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif
The bad news for him: I stopped before rear-ending him. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
The bad news for me: The lady behind me didn't stop in time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cryin.gif
The Good news for me: Even though she hit me pretty darn hard,
there is no damage to the back end of my car. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
The bad news for her: Escorts aren't built as well as Jaguars. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
The good news for both of us: Neither of us suffered injury. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

When we were talking to the police, he told us that there had not
been able to catch this person, but that a lot of people had gotten
into wrecks because of him. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

So, if anyone is going to be driving in Eastern North Carolina,
please use caution and don'r tailgate.

Oh my. If someone in an old truck did that to me, I think I'd leave the scene of the accident and chase him down, while calling the police on a cell phone. That would make me extremely angry.

That's good to here that you or your Jag wasn't hurt though.

I thought of pursuit, but also wanted to see if the lady who hit me OK. Temper is temporary, injuries can be fatal.

Well I am glad that this potentially nasty situation turned out alright......the lack of injuries is a blessing, and the lack of damage to your car just icing on the cake so to speak. The guy will catch someone out sooner or later, but even then I don't think that he will get away with it. Since the police are well aware of him by now, the moment he is involved in a collision they will nail him, and you can't even successfully sue for injuries recieved if you are prosecuted for deliberately engineering a crash. Any insurance company will fight that tooth and nail, plus go after him for the damages.
