OK, i'm sure many of you have read my post about swapping out my 1500 for a 1275 in my 76 midget. . . . i've got all the major stuff taken care of (mounts, radiator, hoses, etc.). Looking inside my engine compartment i noticed the heater box needs to be flipped (no problem). . .that got me thinking.

Do i need to use a different clutch master cylinder for the 1275's slave? gas pedal? (i have a new throttle cable) how about ANYTHING else you can think of that i'll run into during this swap. i'm going to do an alternator retrofit on it and will be ordering the bracket. let me know guys,

Mike, the clutch master cylinders are the same for the 1275 and 1500, so no worries there. The existing throttle assembly should be fine, as long as you use the 1275 cable.

The clutch master is the same but you will need a new pipe from the master to the slave, the 1500 used a plastic one, the 1275 had steel to a rubber hose at the slave.
The 1500 gas pedal was the best of em all, no floor mounted pivot that gets packed with sand and sticks. Keep that pedal but you have to alter the carb end of the cable or just get a 1275 cable.
75 Midgets had the acess hole for the slave cylinder on the right footwell, they eliminated it in 76, so see if you have the rubber plug, if not, a hole down there to get to the dlave bolt and bleeder nipple should be cut in. It's about 2" x 3" (I didn't measure, just a guess) If cut out with a sawzall or cutoff wheel, you can use the 1275 plug.
 
Mike, if you don't want to cut an access hole for the clutch bleeder, consider running a remote bleed fitting. You can run a piece of 3/16" brake line, with a bubble flare on it, from the existing bleed port, up the side of the engine bay, and install a bleed fittting at the top end. No more standing on your head to bleed the clutch. The fittings are available from NAPA, or Summit. The slave bolts are both accessible from underneath the car, so no hole is needed to get to them.

MAN, talk about service - i wish i had a local restaraunt with such good and diverse product!!! lol great idea with the remote bleeder, i may just have to do that. . . . . got the clutch hose - thanks for reminding me - and i'm happy i don't have to switch my pedal box or anything! keep'em comin guys if you have any more suggestions - i'm hoping to get started on it this weekend or during the week and (putting order in tomorrow for mounts and don't want to pay shipping 2/3/4/5 times, even though it's inevitable)
