They would have to turn out really good for me to go there.
I haven't really done this kind of thing before (that I can remember) so there might be some trial and error in the R&D phase.
I have done fiberglass work before, but that was over 30 years ago.
Maybe I'll remember some of the tricks.

I know for sure I'd pay $40 or even $50 for a pair that I could just bolt onto my car - I know this because I spent more than that in materials.

I doubt there is a huge market for these, but making a pair of them once in a while would keep me in beer money (or shiny bits for my cars...)

I cut a few off a rusted hulk that I am planning to weld to my car. The parts are ready to go on the car, but I am still working up the courage to weld on my car.

With my trusty grinder at my side, I fear no welding job.

You can always cot off whatever you weld on - what's the worst that can happen?

Go for it!

That has always been my philosophy on non-body work type welding. But don't worry, fear has never stopped my from screwing up my car in the past... And screwing up my car is just an opportunity to learn a new skill.

I'll work on it a bit more tonight and post more pics.

A long long time ago I worked for a company that built fiberglass boats and other things.

The molds were sprayed with something that adhered to the fiberglass so that when the panels (or hulls) were removed from the molds they had a very nice smooth shiny coating on the outside (the side that contacted the mold).

I seem to remember this was called gel coat, is that right?
Is there anything like that for the small artsy craftsy market?
It would be really cool to have that kind of thing on the outer sides of these babies.
