Yesterday, I drove a round trip distance of 984 miles with my trailer, to pick up a free parts cars.

I went to Huron, Ohio (the southern tip of Lake Erie).

Whew! I'm glad I'm not a truck driver! I don't have the keaster for that sort of thing on a daily basis! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

That's an ambitious "turn-around" jaunt :wh! Did you take 80 across? I used to make that very trip (same length different destination - from the Jersey Shore to real near Erie, Pa.) on a regular basis. It's a "high-caffine" run for sure /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif! Free stuff always has its costs! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

eeep. Long day! Didja wave at Camshaft onna way past? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Yep...Did the same thing last month from 1 hr north of Pittsburgh to the southern edge of Va. & back to drop off engine bits.

Strange how we'll drive great distances in vehicles we don't particularly care for so we can briefly drive the ones we really like.

After all.....Who likes driving a stupid truck w/ 2 tons behind it?
Or a lousy Corolla?

bugeyemike,in 1991 i went to arizona to attend taxidermy school i left stamford ct.in my 4 wheel drive chevy pick up truck loaded with various frozen speciments and with the aid of lotsa hot coffee didnt rest for sleep till i got to new mexico, on 95 id hooked up with a girl via c.b. radio that was going out to l.a. with an 18 wheeler carrying custom steel beams ended up running lead on and off for her and four other trucks as spotter, id told them what i was doing so they gave me the handle "head hunter" it happened to be her birthday so we pulled over at a rest stop for more "joe" and cup cakes for the "celebration" - ah thats another story entirely, ya i know driving that long a distance is nuts but im one of those people that cant under any conditions sleep in a moving vehicle not even as a child could i, ill never attempt doing that stunt again its just crazy - specialy the part with the "cup cakes" /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whistle.gif

I remember the days that I'd drive straight thru
from California to Montana - 24-30 hours straight.
Oh,to be young (& stupid) again!

Over the MLK weekend a poster from another forum drove from Riverside to Seattle straight thru to pick up some Astro Van seats. He was going to turn around and head straight home until I talked him into staying the night. Got up the next morning at 8:30 loaded up the seats and away he went. I get tired thinking about it and I love road trips!

Those were all jaunts "back in the day" for me. The passing years are precluding my ability to sit behind the wheel for ridiculously long stretches! The last jaunt I did like that was two years ago from S. Fl. to Lackland, Tx. for the boy's boot camp graduation. Drove out Fri., froze our butts on the parade grounds, Sat. and Sun. am. Packed in as much up-time with the boy as we could Sunday and were back home in time for work Mon. am, exhausted but happy!!!
