Just got back from Birmingham where I picked up a truckload of MGB parts & a stripped rolling bodyshell...this body is in great condition - a few pin holes in floor & evidence of a minor accident in rear is all the work to be done...its stripped of anything that might need to be taped before painting...it'll be a great shell to use with one that's rusted away...& its a '72...&, its TEAL BLUE!...what's with these '72 MGB's?
 
Tony; It's a great colour; that's what going on. Stop fighting it; deep down inside you really want a teal blue MGB. And of course you want it to have the long sought after ochre interior. Sure, it looks like vomit

Interesting, the '73 bodyshell I took to the crusher Monday was TEAL BLUE....they're coming out of the woodwork!

&, the one I picked up yesterday ill go to some guy who needs a pretty straight, rust free body to transfer all his stuff from a rust bucket!
 
No photo yet - its still on the trailer - got in from picking it up around 9pm last night....it has Rostyle suspension but that could easily be changed to wire as I have all the pieces....I figure it'll go to somebody with a rusty body & they'll just transfer all their stuff to it...we can even pull the suspension & load just the body on a trailer (has a super straight aluminum hood!)

I agree with you about Teal Blue. I hate it. I have a '72 and if it had been Teal Blue, it would definitely be the color it is now a lot sooner than it was. RED!!!!

Hallelujah! Somebody else on my side! {just don't let Gerry know!).....I guess if the '72 is not sold by the time its ready for paint, I'm gonna paint it TEAL BLUE!
 
There ya go Tony. You have to have or every colour don't you? Actually if I ever do a full restoration on mine I'm going to paint it black tulip.
 
Mark...I passed a TEAL BLUE GT on the side of the road yesterday...called guy...he wanted $3000 for it...said it was a '67...it did have early fenders without any side markers but its dash was a '72-'76 unit...there were other things that were strange about it but he swore to me that it was "all original. Well, maybe it was a '68..."...he said he'd need to look at the paperwork...in Alabama, paperwork doesn't mean anything as there are no titles for cars earlier than '75 - only bills of sale!
 
Wasn't teal blue only available for two years (72-73)? I've only seen one other teal blue B and it was a roadster with the ochre interior. Man it's an awful colour. It's so awful it's grown on me and I redid my seats in it. I figure there can't be too many examples left of the colour combination. Also it does allow me the go the black tulip route if I want to stay with original colour combinations.
 
Actually, Mark, in '72 all MGB interiors were either Navy or Autumn Leaf - no Black interiors - only year for that!

&, TEAL BLUE was offered 1971 thru 1974-1/2

(Darn! I despise the color & appear to be becoming an 'expert' on it!)

And here I thought my original interior had just faded over the years and just looked navy. The original owner had replaced pieces of it with black. Well it's all black leather now.

chuck...I thought the same thing - red! But, most every car in my collection is red..I think it was Kim who sent a photo of a long line of red MG's at a show....everywhere one looks there are red MG's...

Maybe more people like red than any other color ----- thus better resale chances.

I have a brother-in-law in Alabama that has been buying, fixing up and selling cars for many years and he says the colors that sell the best are red, black, white, and (yes) blue. He doesn't do LBC's though, just mostly older GM cars.

I refuse to drive an "arrest-me red red" car! I really actually like the Teal Blue...right, Beth???

PS...no offense the red car owners, I just like to drive fast, and red cars attract too much attention, which ain't bad unless it is from the cops
