What's for dinner? And my new toy!

Offline
Well. I've been busy all afternoon assembling my new Grill!!!!! Up until today, I've been using an old thrown out gas grill as a charcoal grill. Now I have a proper charcoal grill, and I'm very proud of it.

Oh, and we're having bbq pork tonight with grilled corn on the cob, and CAB to help swallow.

What are you having?

I think I can get there within a couple of hours, Kenny...hehehehe

did I mention the 830 sq in of cooking surface... heck I could feed an army of BCF'ers with this thing. I love it already, and haven't even lit a fire in it yet.

That looks like fun, Kenny. I've got a bit of grill envy! My current grill is a little "Smokey Joe" portable type. Maybe someday...

And I'm having a frozen pizza before I head out to my gig tonight. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

BTW... for anyone looking, Home depot is having a huge sale on their gas grills this weekend (at least locally). Some of the fancy stainless steel $400 ones had under $200 tags on them. I'm just not a gas grill guy, or I probably woulda jumped on one of those deals. I got mine at wally world for $130.

Well..today I followed up on a line on a 1975 TR6 that has been abandoned in a storage facility...went and looked at it, made and offer, and will now wait for a response.

Then took the dog out for a ride in the truck (so that he doesn't always get paranoid aboutseeing the VET when it's "ride time"), then a buddy and I watched college basketball (dammit, Kansas and Bill Self won yet again) at a small pub in a small town, drinking regular sized Bass.

The wife just got home...we're off for yet abother small town with a great little restaurant for supper in about 30.

Big honking salad and some nasty 'diet' frozen entree.

Thanks, Kenny!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif

Jerri was looking over my shoulder - now I've gotta go to the Depot tomorrow.....there goes my new set of car skates from Harbor Freight!

Tuna casserole.

For a switch I'm in early on one of these...

I have no idea how it's spelt, but it was crawfish eh-two-fay. (etouffe? I dunno). Dad made it.

I'm mildly jealous, Kenny. We're not allowed to have grills of any sort at my apartment complex, so my general grilled meat intake has been down.

We have a gas grill and love it, but gas or charcoal, you can do some really neat things. We like to grill salmon with a spice rub, then put it onto a salad with tomato-vinaigrette salsa. You can also smoke a chicken or turkey. Once the coals are going, move them to one side, so they're not under the bird, and put a pan of water under the bird. Put mesquite chips, which have been soaked in water overnight, on the coals. Keep adding more chips as needed.

I'll give you a couple weeks to practice, then we all expect a barbecue...!

For us, tonight, its grilled burgers and a salad.

Nice Grill!! I bought my hubby a Weber Silver B several years ago and he grills about four nights a week! Tonight is Sirloin Steak (Kroger has ti for $3.27 lb) Twice baked potatoes, steamed broccoli, salad and of course beer.
The nice thing is there's always a present there for him (rotesserie, fish cooker, new grates, BBQ tools, etc)
Many happy hours of grilling to you....don't forget the beer.

eh.. hot pocket here... It's food..
I'm due for a new grill in the spring. Still on the fence if it's gonna be gas or charcoal... I love the flavor of charcoal, but it's so convenient to be able to just fire up the gas. Mebbe I could spring for one of those dual fuel jobbies.
My last $90 Fiesta gas grill special has seen 9 years of use (it's on it's 3rd plenum and second piezo igniter) and still has the original grate. But it's time.

If there's room.....I recommend both! We actually have two weber kettles, and a gas grill too (My husband is the local RIB KING!) The charcoal grill definitely has better flavor (we use one of those charcoal lighters you get from Home Depot to avoid the lighter fluid flavor) but if time is an issue the gas is quick. We love it cause it means we don't have to heat up the kitchen in the summer! And Friday evening is a luxury with cold beers in the back yard while we grill dinner and rehash our week.

Grats on your new BBQ Tony.

Not me, Jack - Kenny

BBQ is considered cooking equipment around my house & I'm not allowed to touch anything in the kitchen - indoors or out!

Oh, congratulation on Jerris new BBQ then, hehe.
