What is character?

Ya know? I feel pretty petty right now because all morning long I’d been whining about my taxes this year. Never seems to fail that every time I start feeling sorry for myself or start thinking how hard my life is these stories seem to pop up when I need'em most.

Case in point - the story linked below, I found on another forum:

Wounded Marine returns from Iraq to marry his sweetheart.

Kudos to the newlyweds.

Yet another meaning to the Marine’s motto “Semper Fi” (Always Faithful).

"Character is doing what's righht even when no one is looking"
-- JC Watts

I think he needs to be on Capital Hill daily. Standing in the visitors gallary at attention, in uniform, for a bit, one day on each side.

The only message, and it is for all, is: Support Your Troops" everyday in every way.

Character is doing what's right.......

without even thinking about it.

George Washington. "The indispensible man".

Don't seem to hear much about him nowadays, he's even passed over in some of the elementary school currucula.

Every time the word "character" is mentioned, I think of him.

I saw them on a talk show.
You also have to admire her for seeing the person
within,I think most young woman would just dump a
guy who came back like that, just dwelling on his
outward appearance.Kind of ties in with Valentine's-
-Day,doesen't it?
There was also a Marine on the Extreme Makeover
Home Edition who rescued the two policeman after
the World Trade Center collapsed.
He didn't see himself as a hero, just did what he
was right. We need more Heros/role models like them.
